Founder of the Aggie Grey's Hotel.
Born in 1897, Aggie Grey is arguably one of the most famous people from Samoa. Born of a British father and a Samoan Mother, her name became synonymous with hospitality in Samoa with the opening of this hotel in 1933 which was established as a high profile club and gathering place for American servicemen stationed in Samoa during WWII and was formerly known simply as Aggie Grey’s Hotel.
Over the years the hotel has hosted many well-known names, including Hollywood screen legends Marlon Brando, Gary Cooper and Chery Ladd. Aggie was a firm part of Samoa’s social scene during this time and was known by many.
Sadly in 1988 Aggie passed away however, her legacy lives on with two luxury hotels in Samoa. After a multi-million dollar redevelopment The Aggie Grey’s Hotel will re-open its doors on the 27th May 2016 which will mark a new chapter in the story of Aggie Grey’s Hotel.
Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is proud to bear the name Aggie Grey on its properties here in Apia and at our sister resort Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort in Mulifanua.
